Yes. Students interested in doing this must apply both to the Texas A&M University at Galveston – Texas Maritime Academy and the NROTC programs. Students pursuing the merchant mariner license must meet U.S. Coast Guard requirements, which vary somewhat from U.S. Navy requirements. Eligible candidates will be selected on a case by case basis.
