I have mine as a dirt floor and 3 and 1/4 sites built 3 feet up with small fencing – the “cyclone fencing” – this stuff http://www.idealtruevalue.com/servlet/the-66619/Detail I have metal posts in the corners and I have a 1 and a half foot opening in the front. I use a pitchfork (one of those wide ones for pitching hay rather than spading up a garden) to turn it. I put a few tablespoon of miracle grow in there and hit it with water when it doesn’t rain much. I have another, smaller bin next to it that is for, more degraded stuff. Couple times a year, I take everything in the pit and toss it in the wheelbarrow. Anything that mostly stays after the pitching gets shoveled into the smaller pit. That’s what I use as compost.
