It is possible to mix two different greases but one has to make sure that: – Base oil and thickener type of the two greases are compatible. – Replacement grease is suitable for the application. – Technical properties of the two greases are similar (NLGI class, viscosity, does it contain EP additives or solid lubricant etc.). This can be checked in LuBASE (subscription required). Grease compatibility requires testing, but there are some general guidelines that can be applied. These guidelines are based on thickener and base oil compatibility (see SKF bearing greases compatibility table). The answer to this question is LGWA 2 is compatible with the lithium thickened mineral oil grease as NLGI class as well as base oil viscosity is similar, so it is safe to say that if the lithium thickened mineral oil grease works, so will LGWA 2.
