Not only is it possible, it is also rather easy to do so. Here is how I do mine: Twist the top off of the pineapple. Remove the lower leaves, exposing about 1 1/2 to 2 inches of the stalk. You will see brown, thread-like strings around the stalk. These are roots; don’t remove them. Turn the top upside-down for a few days to allow the end to dry. This helps prevent rotting of the end. Get a large flower pot. I use one that is 15 inches across the top for my pineapples. Fill it with good, high-quality potting soil. Water the potting soil a couple of days prior to setting the pineapple top in place. When you plant the top bury it to the lowest leaves and firm the soil around it. Water well afterwards and keep it watered. You will not notice any growth for a few weeks, but it is growing. Look at the leaves; you will see that they appear to taper about the middle then widen out again. The portion below the taper is what has grown since you planted it.
