Is it safe to heat baby food in a microwave oven?
Rating: 93 Most baby food can be safely heated in a microwave oven. Some should not because of the possibility for uneven heating that could cause the food to explode or result in hot spots in the food that could cause burns if eaten. Foods that should not be heated in a microwave oven include plain meats and poultry, high meat dinners, egg yolks, meat and poultry sticks. Jars of baby food that do not contain any of the above ingredients can be heated in a microwave oven by removing the cap from the jar and setting the jar on a plate or paper towel in the microwave. Heating should begin at the lowest level of heat. The food should be tested frequently until it is just warm. Stir well to be sure the heat is equally distributed. PREPARED BY: Angela M.
