Is it safe to take Guaifenesin while pregnant?

I wouldn’t take prescription strength guaifenesin, no. It thins mucus, which is great when you’re congested, not great when you are pregnant. This is because there is a mucous plug sealing off your uterus–it needs to stay there. If you are completely miserable and have tried hot showers/baths and everything you can think of, buy some generic over the counter guaifenesin, which is usually 400 milligrams, and break it in half. You can take that once every 12 hours for a few days. But I’d try to pass on it if possible.
