Is it still legal to carry a Swiss army knife for utility purposes?
Tony’s spot on, but I would add that, if found during a police search, they may try to confiscate it. Although carrying the knife itself is not illegal, carrying it with the intention of using it as a weapon is. In order to make a charge against you the police officer(s) in question would have to have reasonable suspicion that you intended to use it as a weapon, and although I doubt any court would convict you without evidence of you making a threat to that effect, some police forces are told that simply having a knife is suspicious enough and may try to make a case where there isn’t one. It’s very unlikely that you’ll ever be stopped & searched (providing you’re not doing something you shouldn’t be that is), but if you are, make sure you don’t accept a caution or allow the knife to be confiscated without charges being brought against you.
