Is it that bad for teenagers to drink alcohol once in a while?

Simply consuming alcohol is not in and of itself a harmful activity for teenagers. The problem with doing so is all the unintended consequences or possibilities that turn into reality that were never planned for. Sure, it is illegal, but just because something is illegal doesn’t make it wrong. (Is it wrong to speed if you wife is in labor and you’re getting to a hospital? No, but it is illegal; the consequences of obeying the speed limit could be physical damage to a newborn and/or a mother, the only significant consequence of speeding would be liability for a crash unless the other person was doing something ridiculous.) So, if teenagers drank at home, did not overconsume, and did not drive afterwards there would be really little downside. Yes, you can argue there is physical harm and increased chance of addiction (which I admit is proven fact). However, if they are informed of this and still wish to pursue drinking then you are basically stuck explaining how your judgement is better
