Is it true that a singer is born a singer?

Yes I believe that to be true. Never known anyone to just wake up and have a fantastic voice. You can definitely learn to hold a note, but it’s so trained and technical, that it doesn’t come from the heart strings, and I think that’s the biggest difference between Natural born singers and learned singers. Even some natural born singers get training but that’s only because they want to become performers and they need to learn how to control the voice they were born with so that their voices are not all over the place. To me, it’s the difference between Whitney Houston and Ciara.

Well I’m not sure, its one of those nature vs. nurture things. I think a unique and awesome singer would probably have to be born with the potential but have to have it nurtured into greatness or discovered. I believe almost anyone can be taught to sing in tune but it takes longer for some people. People can learn to mimic some great singers but that isn’t really the same thing as having an amazing voice. Copying someone else’s singing style is a lot harder than discovering your own voice. I was afraid I wouldn’t be as good a singer but I discovered I have a much more interesting sound as an alto but can still sing soprano. I think that I had the potential to be a good singer but with the support of my family, music theory

It can be true, but it’s not ALWAYS true. Most of the famous musicians you hear on the radio have trained their voice. A lot of people think singing is really easy, but they are wrong. Singing takes training of the right muscles and your ear. Just because rock stars seem like their lazy, doesn’t mean they are. They didn’t just know how to sing. They started a band and they sounded like crap for a while, and then they worked hard at it and they developed good voices. Look at John Mayer, Rob Thomas, Augustana, etc. All those guys weren’t singing out of the womb, they just worked hard at it. There’s no shortcuts in life, even with music. You have to practice to get yourself better. And these people do the same. If you read articles about famous musicians, you’ll find out that they practice on their vocals every day for a few hours to keep them where they are at, and keep pushing their range. Yes there is a thing such as Perfect Pitch. But even these people practice and work on being consi
