A- The trend in recent years indicates that our local waterfront is in serious danger of becoming completely unavailable to the public in the very near future. The interim council is prepared to take the necessary steps to ensure that there will always be at least a small portion of waterfront available for its citizens’ use – both commercial and recreational. They have a committee currently researching what grants are available to aid with such a purchase. Our state government is so very concerned about our coastline and the fact that fishing activities are being smothered by development that they have enacted a Waterfront Access Study Commission. There are grants available which would aid in the purchase of waterfront, for which, once incorporated, our village would qualify. While many grants available do not require matching funds, there are some programs that require the recipient to match at least a portion of the funds being received.
