Is it true that older would be mothers r very prone to get babies having deformities by birth?
Women are born with a finite set of eggs. As you get older, the condition of these eggs can change, affected firstly by age and then also other things that you do to your body, e.g. substance abuse, radiation etc. It is for this reason that older women are more likely to have babies with chromosonal disorders such as down syndrome. Although the risk of this is higher the older you get, most babies are still born with no problems at all. I had twins at 33, a 2nd baby at 35 and have just had number 4 at 37 with no problems. that being said, there are no guarantees. There are also no guarantees that your child will not get an illness or be in an accident during their life that will cause problems. Just enjoy your pregnancy and love that little baby. If there are difficulties, you will cope and things may turn out better than you expect. Just look at Dr Stephen Hawkings, arguably the smartest man on Earth (or at least in the top 10), who has motor neurone disease. Now, that wasn’t a birth
