Is it worth me applying for marketing assistant jobs without a marketing degree?

The problem is that marketing is the most popular area for students so as an employer you get more marketing applications than you need. So the lack of degree might lead to your application being sorted out an an early stage.

While you might be correct about employers honoring degrees with a major in marketing, don’t give up hope. The position you are looking for is marketing assistant, which means that you are starting lower on the totem pole. In these types of positions, you learn and gain experience in that particular area before moving onto the more detailed side of things. The worst thing that can happen is that they say no, but keep applying and eventually someone will say yes. Also, remember that a good percentage of people don’t necessarily pursue their exact major in school throughout their career. Many change their job interests for various reasons. So again, don’t give up hope! Good luck!
