Is it worth trying to grow carrots in big pots?

I tried it last year in a couple of big terracotta pots which I stood on our terrace among the ornamental plants. The carrot tops looked lovely and when I turned out the pots in October, I was amazed at how many I harvested. I grew ‘Early Nantes’ as a main crop.
