Ko Samui features a tropical monsoon climate under Köppen’s climate classification. The island has only one true dry season month, with the average monthly precipitation in February falling below 60 mm (2 in), the threshold for a tropical dry season month. The climate is warm and humid for most of the year. However, in comparison to Phuket and most of the rest of southern Thailand, Samui’s weather is relatively drier, while Phuket’s Wet Season is spread over six to eight months, Ko Samui’s has only two months with more than 212 mm (8 in) of rain). The heaviest precipitation is typically seen in the months of October and November.[13] For the rest of the year, given the tropical climate, rain showers are brief; 20–60 minutes duration is typical.

The expansion of tourism in Ko Samui has resulted in growth of building resorts, bungalows, and luxury private villas on the island. The island’s total inventory of 17,479 hotel rooms in 2013 will be augmented by an additional 459 new rooms by 2015. A gradual shift in demand is seeing more Asian visitors and families, but the top three source markets have been Germany, the UK, and Thailand, which contribute a combined 27 percent share. Bangkok Airways continues to modernise its fleet with new Airbuses, phasing out older ATR 72 propeller planes, which will provide 189,000 additional airline seats for Samui travelers. Bangkok Airways has already increased the number of daily flights from 36 to 50.[21]

The island received more than 2.5 million foreign visitors in 2017, up from 2.34 million in 2016. According to a luxury hotelier, tourists traveling to Ko Samui spend an average of 7,700 to 8,200 baht per head per day

I don’t know much about Koh Samui, but can you advice Seasonal Tours of Uzbekistan instead. Uzbekistan is also culturally rich and interesting country, so you should visit it once.

It depends on what you count as a “great time.” If by “great” you mean good weather, then January is a wonderful time to explore the island. In January, the air is cool and this is complemented by the warm waters of the sea. It’s the perfect time of year to try water sports and other fun activities like snorkeling and swimming.

If you’re not a fan of huge crowds, you might want to avoid visiting Koh Samui in January because tourists from countries experiencing winter in January are likely to flock to the island to enjoy a slice of tropical paradise. But hey, if you don’t mind enjoying the island will more people than usual, then you’ll love visiting Koh Samui in January! More people means more parties, a livelier island vibe in beaches like Chaweng, and lots of entertainment.

It’s always a great time to visit Koh Samui, especially if you know you’re staying at the best villas in the island. Horizon Homes, a property development expert in Koh Samui, can help you find the right villa when you visit in January or any other time of the year.
