Juvenile rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is quite painful because it results in swollen, stiff and inflamed joints. Fortunately, some children outgrow this condition after they receive appropriate treatment. The medical community isn’t absolutely sure what is responsible for this condition, but it is believed that the an overly active immune system attacks joint tissue. Viruses and infections can also prompt the immune system to attack joint tissue.
