Is Katara one of the best benders in Avatar The Last Airbender?
Katara is one of the best benders in the world, no doubt about that. (1.) She is exceptionally gifted, a genius, seen in the ease with which she can absorb teachings (see below). (2.) She has mastered 3 aspects of waterbending: the “common” waterbending, healing, and bloodbending. Since her level of healing is said to be impressive and bloodbending is if not unique at this point then at least very rare, she is probably the most versatile waterbender in the world. (3.) Even if she isn’t the best waterbender in the strictest sense – let’s say she’d lose to another master in an official duel – she could virtually defeat any bender by using bloodbending, at least the first time she tried, and took them by surprise. When we first saw what bloodbending does it seemed that she could kill anyone in a few seconds (well, not in a TV series that targets kids).
