Is learning to play the guitar with an electric guitar a good option?
Learning to play on an electric guitar has its pros and cons but in the end it just boils down to a matter of preference. I’ve taught guitar in a low income part of town for years and reiterate to you what I’ve told many of the people that have asked me this same question over the years. Judging from the look of that guitar you are most likely into rock, and if you are then you definitely want to begin learning the instrument on an electric. While electric guitars have a bit of a higher learning curve, due to having to learn the settings of both the guitar and the amp, it also tends to be a lot more fun, due to the ability to use various effects and settings to mess with the sound of the instrument. Most students get bored with an acoustics fairly quickly and I have seen many a player lose interest very quickly simply because its very limited in terms of the different sounds you can get out of it. Well, I started playing in an electric….but someone suggested to play the acoustic and then the electric…thats what I did and trust me…its the best you can do…but if you wanna stick to the electric without playing acoustic go for it….You might wanna start with something NOT that expensive thougu…you dont wanna pay too much for a guitar when you just starting to play (Learning can get frustrating and you might want to break your guitar in pieces)…I can see the price anywhere for that guitar you posted…..but Check out GuitarCenter.com….I gotta say they are the best Guitar store in the United States.
