Yes, but it is an old medication for the treatment of Bipolar but some people are still on it. They use several other medications now…because Lithium can be used to over dose and because you have to have your blood tested on regular intervals…it is not a 1st choice medication in the treatment of Bipolar.

Lithium, as I understand it, was the first medication used for bi-polar disorder. Today there is depakote which comes in different doses. Also, there are other newer medications available. Plus psychiatry along with medications are also used today.
