Is Liver Transplant done on Emergency basis?
The common indication for Liver transplantation is End-Stage Liver Disease. Here liver disease progressively worsens until the irreversible stage is reached. Liver Transplantation is planned and done on an elective basis when a suitable donor is available. However Acute Liver Failure is a condition caused by some viruses, drugs and, rarely, other metabolic problems where Liver Transplantation should be done immediately in select circumstances.
