Is macular degeneration genetic?

0

Glaucoma is genetic. Macular degeneration may be genetic but it also is more likely to affect women. Smokers seem to also be at a higher risk for developing. If you haven’t – check out the ARED study. They looked at certain vitamins that may delay or reverse AMD. Lutein was not studied in the ARED study but has since come to be accepted as another key ingredient to have in the diet to help with AMD. A vitamin that is highly recommended and that I have my father (who has dry AMD) take is a vitamin called MaxiVision. You can order them online and I highly recommend them! Good luck and regularly see your eye doctor!
