Is Margarine One Molecule Away from Plastic?
I recently received a chain email telling me that margarine was one molecule away from being plastic. This email was so convincing a person might be inclined to believe it. As a matter of fact, so many people have believed it that I felt compelled to write an article about it. While it is not true that margarine is almost a plastic, there were a few parts of the letter that were true. First, butter is natural while margarine is not. The people who are going to choose butter over margarine are the people who stick with organics. On the other hand, people who are health conscience are going to choose margarine because it is cholesterol free, and lower in saturated fats. Some brands of margarine are even offering some trans-fat free versions. You really have to decide which direction you want to take. I personally do choose to go with the organics.
