Is Mentoring, or Consultancy, the same as Life Coaching?
Life Coaching is not the same as mentoring or consultancy. Mentoring frequently happens in the work environment. A more experienced colleague tutors a less skilled person until they become proficient in a particular skill or task. Life Coaches cannot be experts in all areas of business, or life in general, but they don’t have to be. Their work is to help you draw upon your own inner resources, work with you to explore your options and set goals, devise appropriate action plans, and monitor you taking the necessary steps towards achieving the life you desire. As part of your action plan you may choose to model an expert in a particular area of life, or you may wish to find a mentor to help you address a particular deficit within your skills or knowledge base, your Life Coach should check to make sure you follow through on such plans, helping you to pull in whatever resources you require. Consultants are usually called in to address a particular problem or area of inefficiency at work. T
