Is Mexico safe right now?

Mexico is very safe for people who mind their own business and stay away from border towns at night. I live here full time and find it much safer than Philadelphia or New York (were I used to live and work). If you are coming to Mexico for holiday, you need to use the customary precautions you would use in any tourist area. Scammers, pick pockets, and con artists are everywhere, just like Disney World or Branson. Your Dad should travel with friends, stay in “tourist” centers, and keep a low profile. Most of all, he should enjoy Mexico, I do!

It’s “safe” as long as you follow their laws and don’t engage in illegal activities.

Is the U.S. safe right now? Were there not random highway and mall shootings in the past few weeks? Are there not gang shootings in big cities everyday? Before moving to Mexico, I lived in one of the “safest” cities in the U.S….and a British tourist was shot and killed in the parking lot of the neighborhood pharmacy. The point is, Americans seem to be able to see crime in Mexico, but not in the U.S. The reports of crime in the U.S. that we hear here in Mexico just as scary as the reports of crime in Mexico. Stay out of border towns. Don’t hang out with drug dealers, and use your common sense, and you will be fine.
