Is my mini dachshund still a mini if she weighs 15 pounds?
There’s no such thing as a trusted pet store, she’s not mini. You may have ‘saved’ her but you lined the puppy millers pockets and gave them incentive to keep raising shelter dogs that will be killed, after growing up in horrible conditions. I am sure everyone who buys from these places thinks they’re saving the dog and one person one time doesn’t make a difference, but when almost everyone feels that way there is a problem. If these pet stores stop having buyers, they close. Mills have less and less places to supply and that is the only way to stop this. There is nothing wrong with getting a dog from a REPUTABLE breeder, but a reputable breeder would never in a million years send their dogs to a puppy store! NEVER. Good breeders screen each and every dog buyer and give you a contract that says you must NEVER place the dog in a rescue or shelter, it always goes back to the breeder at any point in it’s life. They take responsibility for every dog they bring into the world.
