Is New City an emo band?
Emmons: Hell no–wait–although most members of New City are extremely “in-touch” with their feelings, they refuse to be categorized under the “emo” music category. Eddie: We do not consider ourselves to be emo (or “emotional rock”), although there have been those who have given us that label (unwillingly). There are some venues (that will remain nameless) who continue to schedule us with emo groups, which is really unfair for a number of our fans, who certainly aren’t emo kids. I see this as a misinformed opinion, for a number of reasons. 1. Anyone who knows the band members in New City knows that we don’t have the emo “style” (with the exception of Greg when he has his Chris Walla haircut). We don’t dress emo, we don’t act emo, and while we are intelligent, sensible, new-age males… we’re not as whiny or naive as the Emo Movement seems to be. 2.
