Is NMT suppose to feel uncomfortable or even hurt?
No. A variety of manual techniques are used by the therapist which are guided by the scale of 1-10 in patient discomfort. It is important to remember to always communicate with your therapist. Only enough pressure should be used to produce a mild to moderate state of discomfort (5,6,7). Only a “feel good pain” is acceptable. The “no pain, no gain” concept does not have any benefit in NMT.
