Is oil rig same as oil platform?
Two different things. An Oil rig is something that pumps oil from the ground or is used to drill for oil. It can be land or on a ship and indeed a structure on water. An oil platform is a large flat surface purposely built to pump or drill for oil as well, there are oil platforms on land, but those at sea usually include accommodation etc. Some Oil Platforms for example in the North Sea are just pumping stations for other Oil rigs others can have the Oil rig included. Lots of people confuse the two.
