Is P-glycoprotein Involved in Amyloid-β Elimination Across the Blood–Brain Barrier in Alzheimer’s Disease?
Cerebral clearance of amyloid-β peptide (Aβ) is considered to occur via elimination across the blood–brain barrier (BBB), as well as proteolytic degradation. Attenuation of its elimination is likely to result in increased cerebral Aβ deposition, which may facilitate progression of Alzheimer’s disease (AD).
