I like mascarpone more though it is double or even more the cost of Philadephia, I’m giving up to use Philadephia deal to it’s sodium, I can add lesser sugar when I make cheese cake with mascarpone cheese. When making Tiramisu, I would stick to mascarpone, yes, I’m stubborn. If your budget doesn’t allow you to use mascarpone, then philadephia is the cheaper choice, even for tiramisu, you may add a bit yoghut and a bit gelatine (reduce the amount of cream cheese and fresh cream, 250 g philadephia cream cheese, 100g plain yoghut, 100g fresh cream, 1 tablespoon galentine for a 25 cm x 25 cm square tin) so that the calories intake would be lesser and it is healthier too.

NO. Mascarpone and Philadelphia are quite different. Having said that however, you CAN use Philadelphia as a substitute for Mascarpone as mascarpone can be rather expensive. Basically, if a recipe calls for 500g Mascarpone, substitute it with 250g Philadelphia and 250 g cream.
