Is platinum a good choice to use when making rings?
Platinum is the metal of choice when a customer wants a white high luster durable ring. Platinum is also 100% hypo-allergenic which mean even the most sensitive skin will not be irritated by it. What is White Gold? White gold is created by mixing yellow gold with an alloy to bleach the colour white. Unfortunately, the white gold that is created is never as white as platinum. In higher karat white gold rings a faint yellow tinge remains in the metal. These rings are then plated in Rodium which will make them white. Unfortunately, the plating will wear away exposing the underlying metal over time. This replating will have to be redone usually on a yearly basis. 14 kt white gold has less of this yellow tinge and therefore, would be better than 18 kt white gold.
