Is PR better than advertising or vice-versa?
There is no such thing as a free lunch and PR will not be free for your company but a well executed PR campaign can carry more weight and ‘credibility’ than an advertising campaign. Think about the last advert you saw versus the piece you read about the latest ‘widget’ you are interested in – which had more credibility for you? That’s not to say you shouldn’t advertise, it depends on your goals. Neither advertising nor PR work effectively though without a clear objective and work and effort on someone’s part – that really would be a free lunch!
