Public schools are a better way of actually experiencing the world. The lessons will teach you subjects that are important in the real world and usually give examples oh how they can be used. The people there are also usually a very wide variety of people there. They also have the downside of giving you a lower chance of getting in to a good university, because universities look for these impressive educations, and all of the other extra things you do with a private school. Universities are working on increasing the percentage of public school admittances, but it's still low. You also get lots of different kinds of people there and some struggle with the "rough" and "council-estate" people. Private schools will give you a boost to get into a good university by their good name and the fact that they tend to teach you how to pass the exam you are taking, rather than teaching you the curriculum and hoping you pass. The difference between going to private school and going to public school is that in private school, the class size tends to be much smaller and the students tend to be a bit more educationally focussed than in public school, plus, parents have to pay for a student to attend school each year (and it can be quite expensive). I am not someone who is either for nor against private school, nor am I for or against public schools, but it really boils down to whether a parent can afford to have their child or children go to a private school or not. More and more public schools are having to deal with serious issues such as gang violence, drugs and alcohol (not that these two things haven't always been an issue) among other things and there is starting to be a tend of public schools having to use different measures of security to keep kids safe.
