Is Rafting on Ganga a winter or summer activity?
In the last eight years, Rishikesh in Uttarakhand has emerged as the adventure sports capital of India and White Water Rafting gained immense popularity especially among first time adventurers. Sadly though, due to lack of reliable sources of information a lot many myths surround this Mother of Adventure Sports, best season for instance! While people throng the region right till June every year, the interesting fact to know is that White Water Rafting on Ganga is a winter sport and best opportunities for the same are available between November and March every year (the rafting season at Rishikesh is Sept to June). Ganga being glacier fed, the water is warmer in winters, secondly Rishikesh being a zero pollution zone the days here are full of bright sunshine and evenings offer the best star gazing opportunities in the winters.
