Is reclaimed redwood or salvaged redwood suitable for structural applications in extreme pest or weather conditions?

0

Yes. Even in places like Hawaii or the South where it may be customary to treat all of the structural lumber with Borasilicate (aka Borate or soap), redwood’s natural resistance to termites and other pests, enable structures to be built with naturally untreated lumber from YRM. Because the wood is untreated, you don’t have to worry about the weather or exposed applications washing off the Borasilicate which makes our material ideal for exposed siding, decks, and trim. Reclaimed and salvaged redwood is an excellent green alternative to chemically treated wood and unlike chemically treated lumber, exposure to redwood has no known ill health effects.
