Yes, they can be, but not always. It’s the most commonly abused benzodiazepene in the UK, and several countries schedule it stricter than ativan or xanax. It’s also very often found in the tox screen of overdose patients, but there is an argument that because it’s a very commonly used sleep aid, it’s just used by a lot of people. However, I’ve been on it, as a prescription, for several months, and this is maybe the third time I’ve used it. There is some rebound insomnia when you quit, but it goes away. I suspect people who misuse it simply want to get a down feeling. It makes you tired; it makes you not care so much wan’t going on around you, it has a relazing effect.
