Is Ricky Ponting the worst Australian cricket captain in living memory?

Seeing as I remember Graham Yallop & Kim Hughes he definitely isn’t the worst Aussie captain in living memory. Ponting’s trying to steer a team in transition, and he’s probably got the hardest job ahead of him of any Aussie captain since Border. You really have to look at all the great players (and also the very, very good ones) that the team have lost over the last year or so – overall they are a lot better than the ones lost to WSC in the 70s. In any case trying to defend Hughes with the WSC argument is flawed, as only his first 7 tests as captain were affected…the other 21 tests he had the best available side, and he was still useless.
