Depends what you’re looking to do. Obviously when you run uphill, you can’t run nearly as long as if you were running on flat ground. That means you burn less calories, but because uphill offers much more resistance, you’ll work your leg muscles harder and probably develop more muscles vs losing more calories.

Running up hill is going to get the heart pumping faster than running on the flat, I don’t know about beneficial, I am knackered walking uphill!
