Is shelter available for families of Tech students who have been displaced by Hurricane Katrina?
• A11. Yes. However, availability changes daily as some families return home and new families arrive. Please contact Sam Speed at 318-257-4917 or 318-257-4038 for current availability. • Q12. What about payment for dorm and meals? • A12. Some of the affected colleges and universities that awarded dorm and meal scholarships to their students have indicated that they will cover dorm and meal expenses at Louisiana Tech for their students for at least fall quarter. This may also apply to you if you have already paid dorm and meal expenses at your home institution. In either case, it is your responsibility to find out if your home institution will reimburse Tech. You will be given until near the end of the fall quarter to get this worked out. If your university will not reimburse Tech, payment will be your responsibility. Please remember that federal financial aid may assist you with meeting these expenses. Applying for FEMA assistance is another possibility; please call FEMA at 1-800-621-F
