When using Multisegment metering (standard setting) In the Viewfinder mode, brightness is measured by a 40-segment honeycomb pattern SPC. In the Live view mode, when using Multisegment metering (standard setting), brightness is measured by dividing the screen into 1200 segments using the Live View Image sensor. In Live View mode not only the brightness but also colour distribution is analyzed using RGB signals, which is especially helpful when shooting backlit scenes.
