The bread and the juice are representative of the lord’s body and blood. They are NOT his actual body and blood as some religions preach. Acts 2:42 says: They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. (New American Standard Bible) This indicates the importance of meeting together and enjoying the fellowship of other believers and sharing the gospel. There is no indication that this was a time to literally consume flesh and blood. Rather they were to consume the message of the savior. It’s my opinion that the real issue here is the unity of the believers. Genesis 11:6 tells us: The LORD said, “Behold, they are one people, and they all have the same language. And this is what they began to do, and now nothing which they purpose to do will be impossible for them. (New American Standard Bible ) There is power in unity.
