Is the element Zinc a pure substance, or found in combination with other elements?

0

Zinc is an element, that is to say it is not a compound of other elements. Zinc in nature is often found in combination with other elements however, usually with other base metals or sulfur compounds. There are a number of zinc ores which are mined, zinc sulfide being the most common.

An element, by definition, is a pure chemical substance. However, as zinc’s highly reactive, it’s not found in this pure form in nature (or at least, it tends not be).
