Is the Imagine Engine a security concern?

0

It shouldn’t be. The Windows XP SP2 firewall is enabled by default, and only ports used by our client software to connect to our server software are open. The client computers never connect directly to any database, so there are no database ports open. The engine does host a webpage, but only locally and not with software requiring separate updates, such as Apache or IIS. Microsoft Windows Updates install automatically. If the school or district mandates a particular security or antivirus package, this can be installed to our Engine at the time of the Install as well as any other school-mandated software, such as VNC.
