Is the KKK subculture or counterculture…?

Neither. A subculture is something like goths or punks, sort of a culture that is not mainstream. But with a subculture the people in it carry on their normal (their version of it) lives The KKK don’t count as this because their whole reason for being together is a political and social one, ideally (for them) to change society. Other subcultures like goths and emos and so on don’t seek to change anything or anyone. Nor do they want to lynch anyone. Thus the KKK is better defined as an extremist group.

I will use the following definitions as a starting point: Counterculture: the culture and lifestyle of those people, esp. among the young, who reject or oppose the dominant values and behavior of society. Subculture: a. the cultural values and behavioral patterns distinctive of a particular group in a society. b. a group having social, economic, ethnic, or other traits distinctive enough to distinguish it from others within the same culture or society. I think the KKK is a subculture because of their “ethnic traits”. They define themselves in terms of ethnicity, being in favor of white supremacy and opposed to certain other ethnicities, especially, but not limited to, African Americans. They are not counterculture because they are continuing to embrace what *used* to be the dominant values in society, over a century ago.

Feel a strong sense of hate towards anyone who is not of their race and religion. Members of the Klan are very helpful to one another and look out for the well being of fellow members. Nowadays we should be more empathetic and here https://tooly.io/black-lives-matter you can find out more about their culture.
