Is the Middle Years Program a five-year commitment?
A. Families are asked to consider MYP as a discrete five-year program that awards the IBMYP Certificate upon successful completion of the program in grade 10 (Level 5). The benefits are many. Students form a closely knit family of similarly inclined friends and peers, beginning in grade 6 (Level 1). MYP’s focus on the Areas of Interaction, including Approaches to Learning (learning how to learn, study, organize, set goals and prioritize) gives students ever-increasing skills and attitudes that last a lifetime. The seamless “leap” to the 9-10 MYP at Robbinsdale Cooper ensures the continuation of the Areas of Interaction, accelerated, interdisciplinary and real-life learning taught at the highest international standard, and a focus on international-mindedness. It is possible, however, for a student to join the MYP in middle school and make the decision to attend a non-MYP high school.
