Is the mitochondria DNA sequence annotated?
Yes, we performed automated annotation of the mitochondria sequence. However the automated annotation relies on gene prediction programs which need to be correctly trained on known genes in order to work well. The gene prediction programs were not trained specifically on mitochondria sequence and thus we know that the predicted genes are of lower quality than the Genomic DNA gene predictions. Given this caveat, we still present to you the results of our initial mitochondia sequence annotation.
