Yes, as with any large or giant breed dog. The mastino’s hips are a little different from other breeds when you consider the level of elasticity in the joints. We recommend having an experience orthopedic vet look over hip x-rays. The OFA and Penn Hip are two organizations that do evaluate breeding stock for hip soundness.
