Some people think the 28-foot Triton is too small with too little freeboard to cruise offshore and be comfortable to live aboard. The main reason the average size cruising yacht these days is around 40-foot long is because people find they need that space to contain all the equipment and gadgets the yachting press and their neighbors in the marina have told them they can’t do without.
