Different printing methods and substrates will affect the original bar code image in different ways, particularly in the amount of ink spread that occurs which impacts the dimensional sizes of the printed bars. The colour of the ink used to print the bars and the colour of the substrate will also influence the ease with which the barcode can be scanned.
