Is the reaction of magnesium and hydrochloric acid acid-base reaction?

0

an acid is a substance that accepts electron while the base donates the electrons during a chemicle reaction. Magnesium donates its 2 valence electrons to the 2 hydrogen ions from HCl to give 2 hydrogen atoms that then bond giving hydrogen gas. Because of the electron exchange during the reaction, Mg is the base and HCl is the acid. Thus the reaction between Mg and HCl is an acid base reaction.
