Is the Scientific American book club more trouble than its worth?

I had been a member of the book club. I dropped my membership because they didn’t have anything I was specifically wanting to buy. The prices can be comparable to other online and brick-and-mortar stores. Just be aware that the selection may not be any different than the other stores. The best guideline is one I had read about buying on-line vs. locally. If the book is newly-printed or on the best-seller lists, you’re better off going to your local stores (gas money vs. shipping and handling notwithstanding). If the book is somewhat older or more specialized, you may be better hitting an on-line store.
